Physical therapy on leg

WHAT IS MAT™?

MAT™ is a systematic approach that can reduce or eliminate fatigue, and speed up muscle recovery by addressing muscular imbalances. It is a non-invasive method for improving everyday activities for all age groups and athletic levels. MAT™ improves the body's ability to achieve optimal levels of function by increasing the body's range of motion, restoring muscle alignment, and eliminating compensation patterns. It is designed to identify and address the causes of discomfort and limitations in range of motion.

PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION: HOW MAT CAN HELP

Pelvic floor dysfunction affects almost 50% of women following childbirth. "The endopelvic fascia, which supports the pelvic floor, is comprised of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissue. Integrity of nerves is also essential for maintenance support structure, function and continence mechanisms.

It is believed that pregnancy and vaginal delivery – with associated stretching, compression, and muscle tearing – damages the fascial support and the nerves of the pelvic floor. The uterosacral ligaments and parametrial ligaments, which support the uterus, may be unable to support the uterus, causing further damage.Women who experience dysfunction lose integrity of the levator ani, the main muscle responsible for the support of the pelvis, by developing gaps in the muscle. Pelvic floor dysfunction is a very real possibility with the inherent trauma associated with childbirth." Women's Health Foundation
As the body changes and develops during preganacy, MAT helps stimulate the muscles to stabilize with the changing loads placed on the body, Rock Solid has worked with various amounts of women, helping to make pregancy, delivery, and postpartum recovery as easy as possible.

DEAR WEEKEND WARRIORS,

"Experts are coming around to the idea that infrequent, high-intensity exercise may be as healthy as regular, but more relaxed workouts."
"There is a potential downside to sporadic exercise—increased risk of injury, especially acute injuries such as muscle strains or tendon injuries. Weekend warriors get hurt more often, Metzl explains, but not in the usual manner. “Typically in those that exercise regularly, overuse injuries are more common, but weekend warriors experience less overuse and more acute injury,” he says. “They experience a bigger stress over a shorter period of time.” In Defense of the Weekend-Warrior Lifestyle-The Atlantic
Stress, trauma, and overuse can increase your chances of getting injured.
